Citroën have unveiled their all-new flagship C5 X model which will sit in the D-segment and aims to disrupt this rather traditional large car division. This classic original Citroën original design combines the elegance of a saloon, dynamism of an estate. It comes with the elevated stance of an SUV, to deliver a combination of comfort and style in this segment. This new model, available in both petrol and plug-in hybrid versions, will go on sale in Ireland in early 2022 for the 221 registration period.
Traditional Citroën practicality is also evident from the easy opening tailgate, wide loading area and large boot space of 545 litres which increases to 1,640 litres when the rear seats are folded down. The C5 X features an increased ground clearance and large-diameter 19″ wheels allowing for a higher driving position with greater safety and visibility. The C5 X stands at 4,805 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,485 mm high placing it at the heart of the D-segment while a wheelbase of 2,785 mm ensures spectacular interior space and comfort for driver and passengers alike.
Inside, spaciousness and practicality are evident all round. The car claims advanced Comfort seating and an uncluttered dashboard design. Roominess is further enhanced by the brightness of the 360-degree glass areas around the cabin, including quarter windows, and a large opening glass sunroof that allows additional light to flood in as required.
Ride comfort is claimed to be further increased through enhanced acoustic insulation and Citroën Advanced Comfort suspension. C5 X also introduces an all-new infotainment interface for Citroën that combines a new 12″ HD infotainment interface, natural voice recognition system, customisable widget-based display, 4 USB Type C sockets and wireless smartphone charging. The additional technologies include Head Up Display and Highway Driver Assist which combines Adaptive Cruise Control with a Stop & Go feature and Lane Keeping Assist to provide level 2 semi-autonomous driving.
C5 X will provide an offering suitable for all uses, in addition to a petrol engine offering, a Plug-in Hybrid version will deliver 225hp with the possibility of driving more than 50 km in full electric mode up to 135 km/h.
Colin Sheridan Managing Director of Citroën Ireland commented “For generations, Citroën have been synonymous with comfort.
