Tractor sales in Germany for the first six months of 2020 have been released by VDMA, the farm machinery industry association and show 2.7% decline year on year. The market decline for tractors over the 50hp category was even smaller just back by 1.3% on the 2019 levels. This indicates that the COVID-19 pandemic had little negative impact on new tractor sales.
The figures show that 14,871 new tractors were registered in Germany for the first half of 2020, down from 15, 289 for the same period in 2019. The VDMA market predications are expecting the full year figure to be close to 28,500 units, back about 6% on the 2019 levels.
The only bright spot was in the relatively low power range from 50hp to 80hp where sales increased significantly. There were slight increases in the 170hp to 300hp power range where sales also increased but to a lower percentage level.
