UK tractor sales make slow start in 2025

For the second year in a row, the number of agricultural tractors registered in January in the UK and Northern Ireland, was well below average, according to the Association of Agricultural Engineers (AEA). The monthly total of 462 machines was only 3% fewer than in the same month last year but that still represented the slowest start to the year since 1999. It is around 20% below the seasonal average. The opening couple of months of the year are usually a quiet period for registrations, though, and as it follows a relatively strong December figure, it will be a couple of months before we have a clearer picture of how the market will develop in 2025.

The UK and Northern Ireland new tractor market recorded a 14% reduction in 2024 compared with 2023, according to a recent AEA report. The total number of agricultural tractors registered in the UK and Northern Ireland during 2024 at 10,241 tractors, was the lowest in any year since 1998.
